8 (A)You too be patient; (B)strengthen your hearts, for (C)the coming of the Lord is (D)at hand. 9 (E)Do not groan, (F)brothers, against one another, so that you yourselves may not be judged. Behold, (G)the Judge is standing [a](H)right at the [b]door. 10 As an example, (I)brothers, of suffering and patience, take (J)the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11 Behold, we count those (K)blessed who persevere. You have heard of (L)the [c]perseverance of Job and have seen (M)the [d]outcome of the Lord’s dealings, that (N)the Lord is full of compassion and is merciful.
12 But above all, (O)my brothers, (P)do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let [e]your yes be yes, and your no, no, so that you may not fall under judgment.
13 Is anyone among you (Q)suffering? (R)Then he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? He is to (S)sing praises. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for (T)the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, [f](U)anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the (V)prayer [g]offered in faith will (W)save the one who is sick, and the Lord will (X)raise him up, and if he has committed sins, [h]they will be forgiven him. 16 Therefore, (Y)confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be (Z)healed. (AA)The effective [i]prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. 17 Elijah was (AB)a man with a nature like ours, and (AC)he prayed [j]earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for (AD)three years and six months. 18 Then he (AE)prayed again, and (AF)the [k]sky gave rain and the earth produced its fruit.
19 My brothers, (AG)if any among you strays from (AH)the truth and one turns him back, 20 let him know that [l]he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will (AI)save his soul from death and will (AJ)cover a multitude of sins.
