Job 27:8-23
New American Standard Bible 1995
8 “For what is (A)the hope of the godless [a]when he is cut off,
When God requires (B)his [b]life?
9 “Will God (C)hear his cry
When (D)distress comes upon him?
10 “Will he take (E)delight in the Almighty?
Will he call on God at all times?
11 “I will instruct you in the [c]power of God;
What is with the Almighty I will not conceal.
12 “Behold, all of you have seen it;
Why then do you [d]act foolishly?
13 “This is (F)the portion of a wicked man from God,
And the inheritance which (G)tyrants receive from the Almighty.
14 “Though his sons are many, [e]they are destined (H)for the sword;
And his (I)descendants will not be satisfied with bread.
15 “His survivors will be buried because of the plague,
And [f]their (J)widows will not be able to weep.
16 “Though he piles up silver like dust
And prepares garments as plentiful as the clay,
17 He may prepare it, (K)but the just will wear it
And the innocent will divide the silver.
18 “He has built his (L)house like the [g]spider’s web,
Or as a hut which the watchman has made.
19 “He lies down rich, but never [h]again;
He opens his eyes, and (M)it is no longer.
20 “(N)Terrors overtake him like a flood;
A tempest steals him away (O)in the night.
21 “The east (P)wind carries him away, and he is gone,
For it whirls him (Q)away from his place.
22 “For it will hurl at him (R)without sparing;
He will surely try to (S)flee from its [i]power.
23 “Men will clap their hands at him
And will (T)hiss him from his place.

James 5:16-20
New American Standard Bible 1995
16 Therefore, (A)confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be (B)healed. (C)The effective [a]prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. 17 Elijah was (D)a man with a nature like ours, and (E)he prayed [b]earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for (F)three years and six months. 18 Then he (G)prayed again, and (H)the [c]sky [d]poured rain and the earth produced its fruit.
19 My brethren, (I)if any among you strays from (J)the truth and one turns him back, 20 let him know that [e]he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will (K)save his soul from death and will (L)cover a multitude of sins.
