⁸ But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you;^(A) and you will be my witnesses^(B) in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria,^(C) and to the ends of the earth.”^(D)

¹⁵ But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument^(A) to proclaim my name to the Gentiles^(B) and their kings^(C) and to the people of Israel.

²⁶ and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples^(A) were called Christians first^(B) at Antioch.

⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: “We had to speak the word of God to you first.^(A) Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles.^{(B) 47} For this is what the Lord has commanded us:

⁴⁸ When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord;^(E) and all who were appointed for eternal life believed.

Praise for Spiritual Blessings in Christ

³ Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,^(A) who has blessed us in the heavenly realms^(B) with every spiritual blessing in Christ. ⁴ For he chose us^(C) in him before the creation of the world^(D) to be holy and blameless^(E) in his sight. In love^{(F) 5} he^[a] predestined^(G) us for adoption to sonship^[b](H) through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure^(I) and will—

¹¹ In him we were also chosen,^[a] having been predestined^(A) according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose^(B) of his will,

²² And God placed all things under his feet^(A) and appointed him to be head^(B) over everything for the church, ²³ which is his body,^(C) the fullness of him^(D) who fills everything in every way.^(E)

⁹ and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery,^(A) which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things. ¹⁰ His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God^(B) should be made known^(C) to the rulers and authorities^(D) in the heavenly realms,^(E)

²³ For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church,^(A) his body, of which he is the Savior.
