Prosperity After Turning to the Lord

30 When all these blessings and curses^(A) I have set before you come on you and you take them to heart wherever the Lord your God disperses you among the nations,^{(B) 2} and when you and your children return^(C) to the Lord your God and obey him with all your heart^(D) and with all your soul according to everything I command you today, ³ then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes^[a](E) and have compassion^(F) on you and gather^(G) you again from all the nations where he scattered^(H) you.^{(I) 4} Even if you have been banished to the most distant land under the heavens,^(J) from there the Lord your God will gather^(K) you and bring you back.^{(L) 5} He will bring^(M) you to the land that belonged to your ancestors, and you will take possession of it. He will make you more prosperous and numerous^(N) than your ancestors. ⁶ The Lord your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants,^(O) so that you may love^(P) him with all your heart and with all your soul, and live.

¹¹ In that day^(A) the Lord will reach out his hand a second time to reclaim the surviving remnant^(B) of his people from Assyria,^(C) from Lower Egypt, from Upper Egypt,^(D) from Cush,^[a](E) from Elam,^(F) from Babylonia,^[b] from Hamath^(G) and from the islands^(H) of the Mediterranean.^(I)

²¹ “As for me, this is my covenant^(D) with them,” says the Lord. “My Spirit,^(E) who is on you, will not depart from you,^(F) and my words that I have put in your mouth^(G) will always be on your lips, on the lips of your children and on the lips of their descendants—from this time on and forever,” says the Lord.

¹⁶ In those days, when your numbers have increased greatly in the land,” declares the Lord, “people will no longer say, ‘The ark^(A) of the covenant of the Lord.’ It will never enter their minds or be remembered;^(B) it will not be missed, nor will another one be made. ¹⁷ At that time they will call Jerusalem The Throne^(C) of the Lord, and all nations^(D) will gather in Jerusalem to honor^(E) the name of the Lord. No longer will they follow the stubbornness of their evil hearts.^{(F) 18} In those days the people of Judah will join the people of Israel,^(G) and together^(H) they will come from a northern^(I) land to the land^(J) I gave your ancestors as an inheritance.

²⁵ “Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will now restore the fortunes of Jacob^[a](A) and will have compassion^(B) on all the people of Israel, and I will be zealous for my holy name.^{(C) 26} They will forget their shame and all the unfaithfulness they showed toward me when they lived in safety^(D) in their land with no one to make them afraid.^{(E) 27} When I have brought them back from the nations and have gathered them from the countries of their enemies, I will be proved holy through them in the sight of many nations.^{(F) 28} Then they will know that I am the Lord their God, for though I sent them into exile among the nations, I will gather them^(G) to their own land, not leaving any behind.^{(H) 29} I will no longer hide my face^(I) from them, for I will pour out my Spirit^(J) on the people of Israel, declares the Sovereign Lord.^(K)”
