³⁸ “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘Throughout the generations to come^(A) you are to make tassels on the corners of your garments,^(B) with a blue cord on each tassel. ³⁹ You will have these tassels to look at and so you will remember^(C) all the commands of the Lord, that you may obey them and not prostitute yourselves^(D) by chasing after the lusts of your own hearts^(E) and eyes.

The Fulfillment of the Law

¹⁷ “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.^(A)

²⁰ Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak.^(A)

¹⁶ Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”^(A)

³⁷ Above his head they placed the written charge against him: this is jesus, the king of the jews.

⁵² And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.^(A)

²³ Jesus said to them, “Surely you will quote this proverb to me: ‘Physician, heal yourself!’ And you will tell me, ‘Do here in your hometown^(A) what we have heard that you did in Capernaum.’”^(B)

²⁴ “Truly I tell you,” he continued, “no prophet is accepted in his hometown.^(C)

Jesus Drives Out an Impure Spirit^(A)

³¹ Then he went down to Capernaum,^(B) a town in Galilee, and on the Sabbath he taught the people. ³² They were amazed at his teaching,^(C) because his words had authority.^(D)

³⁴ “Go away! What do you want with us,^(A) Jesus of Nazareth?^(B) Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are^(C)—the Holy One of God!”^(D)

⁹ The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan^(A) woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.^[a])
