³ Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,”^(A) and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,”^(B) except by the Holy Spirit.^(C)

²⁰ Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs^(A) that accompanied it.

²¹ Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm^(A) in Christ. He anointed^(B) us,

²² set his seal^(A) of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.^(B)

² I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit^(A) by the works of the law,^(B) or by believing what you heard?^(C)

⁵ So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles^(A) among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?^(B)

⁷ But to each one of us^(A) grace^(B) has been given^(C) as Christ apportioned it.

⁸ This is why it^[a] says:

⁴ God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles,^(A) and by gifts of the Holy Spirit^(B) distributed according to his will.^(C)
