Elijah Predicts Drought

17 Now Elijah the Tishbite, who was of ^[a](A)the settlers of Gilead, said to Ahab, “^(B)As the Lord, the God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, ^(C)there shall certainly be neither dew nor rain during these years, except by my word.”

²⁵ But I say to you in truth, there were many widows in Israel ^(A)in the days of Elijah, when the sky was shut up for three years and six months, when a ^[a]severe famine came over all the land;

^2 [a]Leave out the ^(A)courtyard which is outside the ^[b]temple and do not measure it, because ^(B)it has been given to the nations; and they will ^(C)trample ^(D)the holy city for ^(E)forty-two months. ³ And I will grant authority to my two ^(F)witnesses, and they will prophesy for ^(G)1,260 days, clothed in ^(H)sackcloth.”

⁶ Then the woman fled into the wilderness where she *had a place prepared by God, so that there ^[a]she would be nourished for ^(A)1,260 days.
