²³ I will place over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he will tend^(A) them; he will tend them and be their shepherd.^{(B) 24} I the Lord will be their God,^(C) and my servant David^(D) will be prince among them.^(E) I the Lord have spoken.^(F)

²⁵ “‘I will make a covenant^(G) of peace^(H) with them and rid the land of savage beasts^(I) so that they may live in the wilderness and sleep in the forests in safety.^{(J) 26} I will make them and the places surrounding my hill a blessing.^[a](K) I will send down showers in season;^(L) there will be showers of blessing.^(M)

¹⁶ “Son of man, take a stick of wood and write on it, ‘Belonging to Judah and the Israelites^(A) associated with him.^(B)’ Then take another stick of wood, and write on it, ‘Belonging to Joseph (that is, to Ephraim) and all the Israelites associated with him.’

²² I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel.^(A) There will be one king over all of them and they will never again be two nations or be divided into two kingdoms.^(B)

³² He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.^(A) The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David,^(B)

³³ and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom^(A) will never end.”^(B)

³⁰ But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne.^(A)
