⁴ Or do you show contempt for the riches^(A) of his kindness,^(B) forbearance^(C) and patience,^(D) not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?^(E)

¹⁶ But for that very reason I was shown mercy^(A) so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience^(B) as an example for those who would believe^(C) in him and receive eternal life.^(D)

¹¹ When the sentence for a crime is not quickly carried out, people’s hearts are filled with schemes to do wrong. ¹² Although a wicked person who commits a hundred crimes may live a long time, I know that it will go better^(A) with those who fear God,^(B) who are reverent before him.^{(C) 13} Yet because the wicked do not fear God,^(D) it will not go well with them, and their days^(E) will not lengthen like a shadow.

³⁵ so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your own soul too.”
