Unity and Diversity in the Body

¹² Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body,^(A) so it is with Christ.^(B)

¹⁸ But in fact God has placed^(A) the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.^(B)

²⁰ As it is, there are many parts, but one body.^(A)

²² On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable,

²⁴ while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it,

²⁵ so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other.

⁹ For we know in part^(A) and we prophesy in part,

⁵ I would like every one of you to speak in tongues,^[a] but I would rather have you prophesy.^(A) The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues,^[b] unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified.^(B)

Good Order in Worship

²⁶ What then shall we say, brothers and sisters?^(A) When you come together, each of you^(B) has a hymn,^(C) or a word of instruction,^(D) a revelation, a tongue^(E) or an interpretation.^(F) Everything must be done so that the church may be built up.^(G)

³¹ For you can all prophesy in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged.
