    therefore I will give free rein to my complaint

²⁵ Another dies in bitterness of soul,^(A)
    never having enjoyed anything good.

¹² The groans of the dying rise from the city,
    and the souls of the wounded cry out for help.^(A)
    But God charges no one with wrongdoing.^(B)

² “As surely as God lives, who has denied me justice,^(A)
    the Almighty,^(B) who has made my life bitter,^(C)

²⁵ Have I not wept for those in trouble?^(A)
    Has not my soul grieved for the poor?^(B)

¹⁸ to preserve them from the pit,^(A)
