² The Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” And he said, “^(A)A staff.”

²⁰ So Moses took his wife and his ^(A)sons and mounted them on a donkey, and returned to the land of Egypt. Moses also took the ^(B)staff of God in his hand.

⁹ “When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying, ‘^[a](A)Work a miracle,’ then you shall say to Aaron, ‘^(B)Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh, so that it may turn into a serpent.’”

¹⁷ This is what the Lord says: “^(A)By this you shall know that I am the Lord: behold, I am going to strike ^[a]the water that is in the Nile with the staff that is in my hand, and ^(B)it will be turned into blood.

^5 [a]Then the Lord said to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘^(A)Extend your hand with your staff over the rivers, over the ^[b]streams, and over the pools, and make frogs come up on the land of Egypt.’”

The Plague of Insects

¹⁶ Then the Lord said to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Extend your staff and strike the dust of the earth, so that it may turn into ^[a]gnats through all the land of Egypt.’”

²³ So Moses reached out with his staff toward the sky, and the Lord ^[a]sent ^[b]thunder and ^(A)hail, and fire ran down to the earth. And the Lord rained hail on the land of Egypt.

¹³ So Moses reached out with his staff over the land of Egypt, and the Lord directed an east wind on the land all that day and all that night; and when it was morning, the east wind ^[a]brought the ^(A)locusts.

¹⁶ As for you, lift up ^(A)your staff and reach out with your hand over the sea and divide it, and the sons of Israel shall ^[a]go through the midst of the sea on dry land.
