²³ Jesus *said to her, “Your brother will rise from the dead.” ²⁴ Martha *said to Him, “^(A)I know that he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.” ²⁵ Jesus said to her, “^(B)I am the resurrection and the life; the one who believes in Me will live, even if he dies,

¹¹ And the testimony is this, that God has given us ^(A)eternal life, and ^(B)this life is in His Son. ^12 (C)The one who has the Son has the life; the one who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.

1 ^(A)In the beginning was ^(B)the Word, and the Word was ^(C)with God, and ^(D)the Word was God. ^2 [a]He was in the beginning with God. ^3 (E)All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him ^[b]not even one thing came into being that has come into being. ^4 (F)In Him was life, and the life was ^(G)the Light of mankind. ⁵ And ^(H)the Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not ^[c]grasp it.

Why This Gospel Was Written

^30 (A)So then, many other ^[a](B)signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; ³¹ but these have been written ^(C)so that you may believe that Jesus is the ^[b]Christ, ^(D)the Son of God; and that by ^(E)believing you may have life in His name.

Testimony of the Scripture

^39 [a](A)You examine the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is ^(B)those very Scriptures that testify about Me;

Words to the People

²⁶ Jesus answered them and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you ^(A)seek Me, not because you saw ^[a](B)signs, but because you ate some of the loaves and were filled. ²⁷ Do not ^(C)work for the food that perishes, but for the food that lasts for ^(D)eternal life, which ^(E)the Son of Man will give you, for on Him the Father, God, ^(F)has set His ^[b]seal.” ²⁸ Therefore they said to Him, “What are we to do, so that we may accomplish the works of God?” ²⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, “This is ^(G)the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He ^(H)has sent.”

⁵³ So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of ^(A)the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves. ⁵⁴ The one who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will ^(B)raise him up on the last day.

² For ^(A)the law of the Spirit of life ^[a]in ^(B)Christ Jesus ^(C)has set you free from the law of sin and of death.
