Abraham answered, “God himself will provide(A) the lamb(B) for the burnt offering, my son.” And the two of them went on together.

When they reached the place God had told him about,(C) Abraham built an altar(D) there and arranged the wood(E) on it. He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar,(F) on top of the wood. 10 Then he reached out his hand and took the knife(G) to slay his son.(H) 11 But the angel of the Lord(I) called out to him from heaven,(J) “Abraham! Abraham!”(K)

“Here I am,”(L) he replied.

12 “Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God,(M) because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.(N)

13 Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram[a] caught by its horns.(O) He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son.(P)

13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
