²³ By the time Lot reached Zoar,^(A) the sun had risen over the land. ²⁴ Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur^(B) on Sodom and Gomorrah^(C)—from the Lord out of the heavens.^{(D) 25} Thus he overthrew those cities^(E) and the entire plain,^(F) destroying all those living in the cities—and also the vegetation in the land.^(G)

²⁹ So when God destroyed the cities of the plain,^(A) he remembered^(B) Abraham, and he brought Lot out of the catastrophe^(C) that overthrew the cities where Lot had lived.^(D)

The Plague of Hail

¹³ Then the Lord said to Moses, “Get up early in the morning, confront Pharaoh and say to him, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: Let my people go, so that they may worship^(A) me, ¹⁴ or this time I will send the full force of my plagues against you and against your officials and your people, so you may know^(B) that there is no one like^(C) me in all the earth. ¹⁵ For by now I could have stretched out my hand and struck you and your people^(D) with a plague that would have wiped you off the earth. ¹⁶ But I have raised you up^[a] for this very purpose,^(E) that I might show you my power^(F) and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.
