Habakkuk 2:14-16

New International Version

¹⁴For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory^(A) of the Lord
as the waters cover the sea.^(B)

¹⁵“Woe to him who gives drink^(C) to his neighbors,
    pouring it from the wineskin till they are drunk,
    so that he can gaze on their naked bodies!
¹⁶You will be filled with shame^(D) instead of glory.^(E)
    Now it is your turn! Drink^(F) and let your nakedness be exposed^[a]!^(G)
The cup^(H) from the Lord’s right hand is coming around to you,
    and disgrace will cover your glory.

²¹When he drank some of its wine,^(A) he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent. ²²Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father naked^(B) and told his two brothers outside. ²³But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it across their shoulders; then they walked in backward and covered their father’s naked body. Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father naked.

²⁴When Noah awoke from his wine and found out what his youngest son had done to him, ²⁵he said,

“Cursed^(C) be Canaan!^(D)
The lowest of slaves
will he be to his brothers.^(E)”
