  1. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.
  2. Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.”
  3. Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so.

  13. Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’: “Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life.
  14. therefore the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken.
  15. Cain Murders Abel

    Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, “I have acquired a man from the Lord.”
  16. And He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground.
  17. So now you are cursed from the earth, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.
  18. Surely You have driven me out this day from the face of the ground; I shall be hidden from Your face; I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond on the earth, and it will happen that anyone who finds me will kill me.”
  19. The Family of Cain

    Then Cain went out from the presence of the Lord and dwelt in the land of Nod on the east of Eden.
  20. So the Lord said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.”
  21. You shall make a window for the ark, and you shall finish it to a cubit from above; and set the door of the ark in its side. You shall make it with lower, second, and third decks.
  22. And behold, I Myself am bringing floodwaters on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which is the breath of life; everything that is on the earth shall die.
  23. For after seven more days I will cause it to rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and I will destroy from the face of the earth all living things that I have made.”
  24. So He destroyed all living things which were on the face of the ground: both man and cattle, creeping thing and bird of the air. They were destroyed from the earth. Only Noah and those who were with him in the ark remained alive.
  25. The fountains of the deep and the windows of heaven were also stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained.
