¹⁵ and remained there until the death of Herod. ^(A)This was to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet, ^(B)“Out of Egypt I called my son.”

³ When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him;

¹⁶ Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, became furious, and he sent and killed all the male children in Bethlehem and in all that region who were two years old or under, according to the time that he had ascertained from the wise men.

For ^(J)flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, ^(K)but my Father who is in heaven.

⁵ He was still speaking when, behold, ^(A)a bright cloud overshadowed them, and ^(B)a voice from the cloud said, ^(C)“This is my beloved Son,^[a] with whom I am well pleased; ^(D)listen to him.”

^43 (A)He trusts in God; let God deliver him now, if he desires him. For he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”

^54 (A)When the centurion and those who were with him, ^(B)keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were filled with awe and said, ^(C)“Truly this was the Son^[a] of God!”
