⁹ And the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I am coming to you ^(A)in a thick cloud, that ^(B)the people may hear when I speak with you, and may also ^(C)believe you forever.”

When Moses told the words of the people to the Lord,

²¹ The people stood far off, while Moses drew near to the ^(A)thick darkness where God was.

¹⁵ Then Moses went up on the mountain, and ^(A)the cloud covered the mountain. ^16 (B)The glory of the Lord dwelt on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. And on the seventh day he called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud. ¹⁷ Now the appearance of the glory of the Lord was like a ^(C)devouring fire on the top of the mountain in the sight of the people of Israel. ¹⁸ Moses entered the cloud and went up on the mountain. And Moses ^(D)was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

⁵ The Lord ^(A)descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and ^(B)proclaimed the name of the Lord.
