Remember how the Lord your God led(A) you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test(B) you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. He humbled(C) you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna,(D) which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach(E) you that man does not live on bread(F) alone but on every word that comes from the mouth(G) of the Lord.(H) Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years.(I) Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you.(J)

And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live.

Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.

Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the Lord thy God chasteneth thee.
