¹⁶So then it depends not on human will or exertion,^[a] but on God, who has mercy.

¹⁶It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy.^(A)

¹³who ^(A)were born, ^(B)not of blood ^(C)nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
