² He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan,^(A) and bound him for a thousand years.^{(B) 3} He threw him into the Abyss,^(C) and locked and sealed^(D) it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations^(E) anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.

⁴ I saw thrones^(F) on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge.^(G) And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded^(H) because of their testimony about Jesus^(I) and because of the word of God.^(J) They^[a] had not worshiped the beast^(K) or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands.^(L) They came to life and reigned^(M) with Christ a thousand years. ⁵ (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection.^{(N) 6} Blessed^(O) and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death^(P) has no power over them, but they will be priests^(Q) of God and of Christ and will reign with him^(R) for a thousand years.

³ This is what the Lord says: “I will return^(A) to Zion^(B) and dwell in Jerusalem.^(C) Then Jerusalem will be called the Faithful City,^(D) and the mountain^(E) of the Lord Almighty will be called the Holy Mountain.^(F)”

⁸ On that day living water^(A) will flow^(B) out from Jerusalem, half of it east^(C) to the Dead Sea and half of it west to the Mediterranean Sea, in summer and in winter.^(D)

³ Many peoples^(A) will come and say,
