⁸ In a surge of anger^(A)
    I hid^(B) my face from you for a moment,
but with everlasting kindness^(C)
    I will have compassion^(D) on you,”
    says the Lord your Redeemer.^(E)

“I have loved^(A) you with an everlasting love;
    I have drawn^(B) you with unfailing kindness.

⁴ “Do not be afraid;^(A) you will not be put to shame.^(B)
    Do not fear disgrace;^(C) you will not be humiliated.
You will forget the shame of your youth^(D)
    and remember no more the reproach^(E) of your widowhood.^(F)

³⁴ No longer will they teach^(A) their neighbor,
    or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’
because they will all know^(B) me,
    from the least of them to the greatest,”
declares the Lord.
“For I will forgive^(C) their wickedness
    and will remember their sins^(D) no more.”

    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.

    all you ends of the earth;^(C)
    for I am God, and there is no other.^(D)

¹⁰ he does not treat us as our sins deserve^(A)
    or repay us according to our iniquities.
¹¹ For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
    so great is his love^(B) for those who fear him;^(C)
12 as far as the east is from the west,
    so far has he removed our transgressions^(D) from us.

¹³ As a father has compassion^(E) on his children,
    so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;
¹⁴ for he knows how we are formed,^(F)
    he remembers that we are dust.^(G)
