13 The families drew names by their fathers’ houses, the small and the large alike, for every gate. 14 Shelemiah’s name was drawn for the east gate. Then they drew the name of his son Zechariah for the north gate. Zechariah used much wisdom talking with people. 15 Obed-edom’s name was drawn for the south gate. And his sons were to watch the store-house.

13 Lots(A) were cast for each gate, according to their families, young and old alike.

14 The lot for the East Gate(B) fell to Shelemiah.[a] Then lots were cast for his son Zechariah,(C) a wise counselor, and the lot for the North Gate fell to him. 15 The lot for the South Gate fell to Obed-Edom,(D) and the lot for the storehouse fell to his sons.
