14 ‘But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to make this freewill-offering? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you. 15 For we are aliens and transients before you, as were all our ancestors; our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no hope. 16 O Lord our God, all this abundance that we have provided for building you a house for your holy name comes from your hand and is all your own.

14 “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this?(A) Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.(B) 15 We are foreigners and strangers(C) in your sight, as were all our ancestors. Our days on earth are like a shadow,(D) without hope. 16 Lord our God, all this abundance that we have provided for building you a temple for your Holy Name comes from your hand, and all of it belongs to you.
