¹⁶Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For ^(A)“the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.”

¹⁶Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.”^[a]^(A)

¹⁶What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.

²Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.

²But since sexual immorality is occurring, each man should have sexual relations with his own wife, and each woman with her own husband.

²Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
