19 We love because he first loved us.(A) 20 Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister(B) is a liar.(C) For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen,(D) cannot love God, whom they have not seen.(E) 21 And he has given us this command:(F) Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.(G)

Faith in the Incarnate Son of God

Everyone who believes(H) that Jesus is the Christ(I) is born of God,(J) and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well.(K) This is how we know(L) that we love the children of God:(M) by loving God and carrying out his commands. In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands.(N) And his commands are not burdensome,(O) for everyone born of God(P) overcomes(Q) the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.(R)

19 We love him, because he first loved us.

20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
