12 (A)He also put away the male cult prostitutes from the land and (B)removed all the idols which his fathers had made. 13 [a](C)He also removed Maacah his mother from being queen mother, because she had made a horrid image [b]as an Asherah; and Asa cut down her horrid image and (D)burned it at the brook Kidron. 14 (E)But the high places were not taken away; nevertheless (F)the heart of Asa was [c]wholly devoted to the Lord all his days.

12 He expelled the male shrine prostitutes(A) from the land and got rid of all the idols(B) his ancestors had made. 13 He even deposed his grandmother Maakah(C) from her position as queen mother,(D) because she had made a repulsive image for the worship of Asherah. Asa cut it down(E) and burned it in the Kidron Valley. 14 Although he did not remove(F) the high places, Asa’s heart was fully committed(G) to the Lord all his life.
