1 Kings 2:26-28

26 Then to Abiathar the priest the king said, “(A)Go to Anathoth to your own field, (B)for you [a]deserve to die; but I will not put you to death at this time, because (C)you carried the ark of Lord Yahweh before my father David, and because (D)you were afflicted in everything with which my father was afflicted.” 27 So Solomon drove Abiathar away from being priest to Yahweh, in order to fulfill (E)the word of Yahweh, which He had spoken concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.
Joab Put to Death
28 Now the news came to Joab, (F)for Joab had followed Adonijah, (G)although he had not followed Absalom. And Joab fled to the tent of Yahweh and (H)took hold of the horns of the altar.

New International Version
26 To Abiathar(A) the priest the king said, “Go back to your fields in Anathoth.(B) You deserve to die, but I will not put you to death now, because you carried the ark(C) of the Sovereign Lord before my father David and shared all my father’s hardships.”(D) 27 So Solomon removed Abiathar from the priesthood of the Lord, fulfilling(E) the word the Lord had spoken at Shiloh about the house of Eli.
28 When the news reached Joab, who had conspired with Adonijah though not with Absalom, he fled to the tent of the Lord and took hold of the horns(F) of the altar.
