³ The king of Israel had said to his servants, “Don’t you know that Ramoth-gilead^(A) is ours, but we have failed to take it from the hand of the king of Aram?”

Ahab’s Death

²⁹ Then^(A) the king of Israel and Judah’s King Jehoshaphat went up to Ramoth-gilead.^(B)

²⁸ Ahaziah went with Joram son of Ahab to fight against Hazael^(A) king of Aram in Ramoth-gilead,^(B) and the Arameans wounded Joram. ²⁹ So King Joram returned to Jezreel^(C) to recover from the wounds that the Arameans had inflicted on him in Ramoth-gilead^[a] when he fought against Aram’s King Hazael.^(D) Then Judah’s King Ahaziah son of Jehoram went down to Jezreel to visit Joram son of Ahab since Joram was ill.
