New English Translation
31 He was wiser than any man, including Ethan the Ezrahite or Heman, Calcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol. He was famous in all the neighboring nations.[a] 32 He composed[b] 3,000 proverbs and 1,005 songs. 33 He produced manuals on botany, describing every kind of plant,[c] from the cedars of Lebanon to the hyssop that grows on walls. He also produced manuals on biology, describing[d] animals, birds, insects, and fish.

31 He was wiser(A) than anyone else, including Ethan the Ezrahite—wiser than Heman, Kalkol and Darda, the sons of Mahol. And his fame spread to all the surrounding nations. 32 He spoke three thousand proverbs(B) and his songs(C) numbered a thousand and five. 33 He spoke about plant life, from the cedar of Lebanon to the hyssop(D) that grows out of walls. He also spoke about animals and birds, reptiles and fish.
