4 but rather the hidden character of the heart, expressed in the imperishable beauty of a gentle and calm disposition, which is precious in the sight of God. 5 For this is also how the holy women who hoped in God once used to adorn themselves and were subordinate to their husbands; 6 thus Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him “lord.” You are her children when you do what is good and fear no intimidation.

4 Rather, it should be that of your inner self,(A) the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.(B) 5 For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God(C) used to adorn themselves.(D) They submitted themselves to their own husbands, 6 like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord.(E) You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.
