1 Samuel 16:12-14
The Message
12 Jesse sent for him. He was brought in, the very picture of health—bright-eyed, good-looking.
God said, “Up on your feet! Anoint him! This is the one.”
13 Samuel took his flask of oil and anointed him, with his brothers standing around watching. The Spirit of God entered David like a rush of wind, God vitally empowering him for the rest of his life.
Samuel left and went home to Ramah.
David—An Excellent Musician
14 At that very moment the Spirit of God left Saul and in its place a black mood sent by God settled on him. He was terrified.

New International Version
12 So he(A) sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome(B) features.
Then the Lord said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.”
13 So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed(C) him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord(D) came powerfully upon David.(E) Samuel then went to Ramah.

14 Now the Spirit of the Lord had departed(F) from Saul, and an evil[a] spirit(G) from the Lord tormented him.(H)
