³⁵ “‘Then I will raise up a faithful priest^(A) for Myself. He will do whatever is in My heart and mind. I will establish a lasting dynasty for him,^(B) and he will walk before My anointed one for all time.^(C)

¹⁴ Ahimelech replied to the king: “Who among all your servants is as faithful as David?^(A) He is the king’s son-in-law, captain of your bodyguard, and honored in your house.

¹¹ ever since the day I ordered judges to be over My people Israel.^(A) I will give you rest from all your enemies.

“‘The Lord declares to you: The Lord Himself will make a house for you.

¹⁶ Your house and kingdom will endure before Me^[a] forever,^(A) and your throne will be established forever.’”^(B)
