8 Ever since the day I rescued my people from Egypt, they have turned from me to worship idols. Now they are turning away from you. 9 Do everything they ask, but warn them and tell them how a king will treat them.
10 Samuel told the people who were asking for a king what the Lord had said:

8 As they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day, forsaking(A) me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you. 9 Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know(B) what the king who will reign over them will claim as his rights.”
10 Samuel told(C) all the words of the Lord to the people who were asking him for a king.
