4 For indeed when we were with you, we kept telling you in advance that we were going to suffer affliction, (A)just as it happened and as you know. 5 For this reason, (B)when I could endure it no longer, I also (C)sent to know about your faith, lest somehow (D)the tempter has tempted you, and (E)our labor be in vain.
6 But now that (F)Timothy has come to us from you, and has brought us good news of (G)your faith and love, and that you always (H)remember us kindly, longing to see us just as we also long to see you,

And it turned out that way, as you well know.(A) 5 For this reason, when I could stand it no longer,(B) I sent to find out about your faith.(C) I was afraid that in some way the tempter(D) had tempted you and that our labors might have been in vain.(E)
