9 holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. 10 And let these also first be proved; then let them serve as deacons, if they be blameless. 11 Women in like manner must be grave, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things.

9 They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience.(A) 10 They must first be tested;(B) and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.
11 In the same way, the women[a] are to be worthy of respect, not malicious talkers(C) but temperate(D) and trustworthy in everything.
