⁶ And now its ^(A)carved work altogether
They smash with hatchet and ^[a]hammers.
⁷ They have ^(B)set Your sanctuary on fire;
By bringing it to the ground, they have ^(C)defiled the dwelling place of Your name.
⁸ They ^(D)said in their heart, “Let us ^[b]completely ^[c]subdue them.”
They have burned all the meeting places of God in the land.

79 O God, the ^(A)nations have come into ^(B)Your inheritance;
They have defiled Your ^(C)holy temple;
They have ^(D)laid Jerusalem in ruins.

⁷ The Lord has ^(A)rejected His altar;
He has abandoned His sanctuary;
He ^(B)has delivered into the hand of the enemy
The walls of her palaces.
They have made a ^(C)noise in the house of Yahweh
As in the day of an appointed time.

¹² Therefore, on account of you
^(A)Zion will be plowed as a field;
^(B)Jerusalem will become a heap of ruins,
And the ^(C)mountain of the house of God will become high places of a forest.
