4.21 Ichabod: The name means “The Glory is not”; i.e., the glory of the Lord enthroned over the ark has departed. Then followed the years during which the sanctuary of Shiloh was desolate and of which Jeremiah long afterward was acutely conscious; cf. Jer 7.12, 14; 26.6.
