7 And David said to Solomon: “My son, as for me, (A)it was in my mind to build a house (B)to the name of the Lord my God; 8 but the word of the Lord came to me, saying, (C)‘You have shed much blood and have made great wars; you shall not build a house for My name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in My sight. 9 (D)Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him (E)rest from all his enemies all around. His name shall be [a]Solomon, for I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days.

7 David said to Solomon: “My son, I had it in my heart(A) to build(B) a house for the Name(C) of the Lord my God. 8 But this word of the Lord came to me: ‘You have shed much blood and have fought many wars.(D) You are not to build a house for my Name,(E) because you have shed much blood on the earth in my sight. 9 But you will have a son who will be a man of peace(F) and rest,(G) and I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side. His name will be Solomon,[a](H) and I will grant Israel peace and quiet(I) during his reign.
