11 For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe’s household, that there are [a]contentions among you. 12 Now I say this, that (A)each of you says, “I am of Paul,” or “I am of (B)Apollos,” or “I am of (C)Cephas,” or “I am of Christ.” 13 (D)Is Christ divided? Were you baptized in the name of Paul?(E) 14 I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus(F) and Gaius,(G) 15 so no one can say that you were baptized in my name. 16 (Yes, I also baptized the household(H) of Stephanas;(I) beyond that, I don’t remember if I baptized anyone else.) 17 For Christ did not send me to baptize,(J) but to preach the gospel—not with wisdom(K) and eloquence, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.
