²⁵Then Jeroboam built Shechem in mount Ephraim, and dwelt therein; and went out from thence, and built Penuel.

²⁵Then Jeroboam fortified Shechem^(A) in the hill country of Ephraim and lived there. From there he went out and built up Peniel.^[a]^(B)

¹⁷And Jeroboam's wife arose, and departed, and came to Tirzah: and when she came to the threshold of the door, the child died;

¹⁷Then Jeroboam’s wife got up and left and went to Tirzah.^(A) As soon as she stepped over the threshold of the house, the boy died.
