⁵ for you are all ^(A)sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of ^(B)darkness;

⁹ But you are ^(A)a chosen people, a royal ^(B)priesthood, a ^(C)holy nation, ^(D)a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you ^(E)out of darkness into His marvelous light;

^8 [a]On the other hand, I am writing ^(A)a new commandment to you, which is true in Him and in you, because ^(B)the darkness is passing away and ^(C)the true Light is already shining.
