14 What god, out of all the gods of those nations that my predecessors[a] utterly destroyed, has been able to deliver his people from my control[b] or from the control[c] of my predecessors?[d] 15 Now therefore, don’t let Hezekiah lie to you or mislead you like this. Don’t believe him, because no god of any nation has been able to deliver his people from my control[e] or from the control[f] of my predecessors. So how much less will your God deliver you from me?’”[g]

16 King Sennacherib’s[h] spokesmen said even worse things against the Lord God and against his servant Hezekiah.

How then can your god deliver you from my hand? 15 Now do not let Hezekiah deceive(A) you and mislead you like this. Do not believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom has been able to deliver(B) his people from my hand or the hand of my predecessors.(C) How much less will your god deliver you from my hand!”

16 Sennacherib’s officers spoke further against the Lord God and against his servant Hezekiah.
