6 For God (A)[a]that commanded the light to shine out of darkness, is he which hath shined in our hearts, to give the [b]light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
7 [c]But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, [d]that the excellency of that power might be of God, and not of us.
8 We are afflicted on every side, yet are we not in distress: we are in doubt, but yet we despair not.

6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,”[a](A) made his light shine in our hearts(B) to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.(C)
7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay(D) to show that this all-surpassing power is from God(E) and not from us. 8 We are hard pressed on every side,(F) but not crushed; perplexed,(G) but not in despair;
