4 Yes: in the present “tent,” we groan under a great weight. But we don’t want to put it off; we want to put on something else on top, so that what is doomed to die may be swallowed up with life. 5 It is God who has been at work in us to do this, the God who has given us the spirit as the first installment and guarantee.

6 So we are always confident: we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord.

4 For while we are in this tent, we groan(A) and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling,(B) so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. 5 Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.(C)
6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord.
