Zechariah King of Israel

Zechariah son of Jeroboam was king over Israel in Samaria. He ruled for six months during Uzziah’s[a] thirty-eighth year as king of Judah. Zechariah did what the Lord said was wrong, just as his ancestors had done. Jeroboam son of Nebat had led the people of Israel to sin, and Zechariah did not stop doing the same sins.

10 Shallum son of Jabesh made plans against Zechariah and killed him in front of the people. Then Shallum became king in his place.

Zechariah King of Israel

In the thirty-eighth year of Azariah king of Judah, Zechariah son of Jeroboam became king of Israel in Samaria, and he reigned six months. He did evil(A) in the eyes of the Lord, as his predecessors had done. He did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit.

10 Shallum son of Jabesh conspired against Zechariah. He attacked him in front of the people,[a] assassinated(B) him and succeeded him as king.
