⁹ But you will have a son who will be a man of peace^(A) and rest,^(B) and I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side. His name will be Solomon,^[a](C) and I will grant Israel peace and quiet^(D) during his reign. ¹⁰ He is the one who will build a house for my Name.^(E) He will be my son,^(F) and I will be his father. And I will establish^(G) the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’^(H)

⁴ “Yet the Lord, the God of Israel, chose me^(A) from my whole family^(B) to be king over Israel forever. He chose Judah^(C) as leader, and from the tribe of Judah he chose my family, and from my father’s sons he was pleased to make me king over all Israel.^{(D) 5} Of all my sons—and the Lord has given me many^(E)—he has chosen my son Solomon^(F) to sit on the throne^(G) of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel. ⁶ He said to me: ‘Solomon your son is the one who will build^(H) my house and my courts, for I have chosen him to be my son,^(I) and I will be his father.
