²³ And all the country wept with a loud voice, and all the people crossed over. The king himself also crossed over the Brook Kidron, and all the people crossed over toward the way of the ^(A)wilderness.

³⁷ For it shall be, on the day you go out and cross ^(A)the Brook Kidron, know for certain you shall surely die; ^(B)your ^[a]blood shall be on your own head.”

¹³ Also he removed ^(A)Maachah his grandmother from being queen mother, because she had made an obscene image of ^[a]Asherah. And Asa cut down her obscene image and ^(B)burned it by the Brook Kidron.

⁴ And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, the ^(A)priests of the second order, and the doorkeepers, to bring ^(B)out of the temple of the Lord all the articles that were made for Baal, for ^[a]Asherah, and for all ^[b]the host of heaven; and he burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried their ashes to Bethel.

⁶ And he brought out the ^(A)wooden^[a] image from the house of the Lord, to the Brook Kidron outside Jerusalem, burned it at the Brook Kidron and ground it to ^(B)ashes, and threw its ashes on ^(C)the graves of the common people.

¹² The altars that were ^(A)on the roof, the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which ^(B)Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the Lord, the king broke down and pulverized there, and threw their dust into the Brook Kidron.

¹⁶ Also he removed ^(A)Maachah, the ^[a]mother of Asa the king, from being queen mother, because she had made an obscene image of ^[b]Asherah; and Asa cut down her obscene image, then crushed and burned it by the Brook Kidron.

¹⁶ Then the priests went into the inner part of the house of the Lord to cleanse it, and brought out all the debris that they found in the temple of the Lord to the court of the house of the Lord. And the Levites took it out and carried it to the Brook ^(A)Kidron.

¹⁴ They arose and took away the ^(A)altars that were in Jerusalem, and they took away all the incense altars and cast them into the Brook ^(B)Kidron.
