“And where is Mephibosheth?” the king asked him.

“He stayed at Jerusalem,” Ziba replied. “He said, ‘Now I’ll get to be king! Today I will get back the kingdom of my father, Saul.’”[a]

“In that case,” the king told Ziba, “I give you everything he owns.”

“Thank you, thank you, sir,” Ziba replied.

As David and his party passed Bahurim, a man came out of the village cursing them. It was Shimei, the son of Gera, a member of Saul’s family.

Shimei Curses David

As King David approached Bahurim,(D) a man from the same clan as Saul’s family came out from there. His name was Shimei(E) son of Gera, and he cursed(F) as he came out.
